Daniel Deveau, 88, of Cheticamp, died May 9, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp.
Born in Cheticamp, he was a son of the late Anselm and Flora (Deveau) Deveau. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He served with the Royal Canadian Army. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp. Daniel worked in the fishing industry and later on as a helper with Leo Poirier. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, playing guitar and spending time driving his car.
Daniel was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Auguste Deveau and his very close friend, Bernadette Chiasson.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Marie; one son, Robert; one daughter, Lucille; four brothers, Gerard, Leo, Leonard and Thomas and by one sister, Armelle Aucoin.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp, Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses for the excellent care given to Daniel in the last couple of weeks that he was in hospital.
