Joseph 'Joe' O'Leary, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2010 at his home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Joe was born on March 30, 1946 and was a native of Reserve Mines, N.S. He grew up in Cape Breton, but left for Ontario at an early age. By trade, Joe worked as a steamfitter out of UA Local 628 in Thunder Bay, Ont. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed aboriginal arts and crafts, playing the guitar, music and animals; especially his beloved dog 'Gizmo.'
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Annie and brothers, Ted and Gerard.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen (Krystal-Gayle), Chris (Kim) and four grandchildren, Bryce, Owen, Michelle and Emily; brothers, Greg (Viola), Brian (Trisha) and sisters Mary Penticost, Debbie Turnbull, Gerry (Terry) Canning, Linda (Randy) O'Leary, Patty (Leonard) Smith, Raylene (Bernie) Nicholson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place in Sault Ste. Marie and a funeral will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Reserve Mines on Friday June 4, 2010 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers or donations, contributions may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank, Loaves and Fishes, Saint Vincent De-Paul Society, Salvation Army or other local charity.
