Helen June (Blades) Tattrie, 72, Truro passed away May 11, 2009 in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax.
Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Laura (Bessie) and William Blades.
She and her husband owned and operated Carl’s Lunch on Willow Street for four years. She was employed at Zellers Ltd. for 13 years and also worked at Crossley Carpets. Helen loved shopping, food, traveling, being pampered and spending quality time with her family. For the past 18 years, she enjoyed spending her winters in Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 54 wonderful years Carl Bernard; daughters Laura (Ross) Stronge, Truro; Cindy Lirette (Kenneth Blakeney), Cooksbrooke; Ola Tattrie (Robert Fisher), Alton; grandchildren Shawn (Shelley) Stronge, Truro; Scott Lirette (Krista), Amherst; Amanda (Tim) MacKenzie, Belmont; Stacey (Kenny) Messervey, Truro; Brent and Carli Fisher, both of Alton; great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Rylee, Samantha, Hailey, Alexander, Zachery; sister, Elsie (Murray) Tattrie; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Winnifred Chapman, Lillian MacLean, Opal Reade; mother and father-in-law Ola and Stan Tattrie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 7 to 9 p.m.; funeral service on Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Andrew Crowell officiating. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
