HOLLICK, Thomas C. (Tommy) – Passed away suddenly at Mont St. Joseph Home, in Prince Albert, SK on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the age of 87. He will be sadly missed by his son Rod (Sherrill) of St. Catharines, ON. and his daughter Brenda Barradell of Thunder Bay, ON. He is survived by sisters Annie, Helen and Rosie and brothers Pete, Mike (Bertha), Paul (Virginia) and Ed and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife Florence (nee Vallier); his parents Carl and Pauline and sisters and brothers Alice, Mary, Katie, Josephine, Joseph, Walter, Frank and John. Tommy was born on the family homestead in Blaine Lake, SK on January 2, 1922. The family moved to Prince Albert in 1928, where he lived and worked on the family farm until he was 14. He struck out on his own then, working as a farm hand, truck driver and service station attendant; and then as a carpenter with the provincial Department of Natural Resources and as a bus driver for PA Bus Lines. He married Florence (Flo) Vallier in Prince Albert on June 28, 1947. They moved to Ontario in 1960 and Tommy worked with his brothers in Hollick Bros. Masonry Contractors as a warehouseman. He also worked as a warehouseman for Abicon Construction and as a steel siding erector. In 1983 Tommy and Flo returned to Prince Albert where he drove city bus for PA Bus Lines until he retired at age 65. Among his proudest accomplishments was building an 11 foot truck camper and a 35 foot fifth-wheel camper that he and Flo used to tour the United States and western Canada. He was an avid curler in his younger years. Tommy enjoyed doing crafts, building model bird houses and other woodworking projects; and excelled at sewing scale models of his home, granaries and other public buildings, as well as seasonal decorations, out of plastic canvas. He was a highly skilled cribbage player well into his 80s and enjoyed competing locally with his niece Marnee Chubak until a few years ago. We extend our sincere appreciation to the staff of Mont St. Joseph’s for the affection and care they gave our dad during his residency there. A special thank you to Dr. Halyk for his care and patience. Tommy is resting at Gray’s Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Celine Hudon officiating.
