New Glasgow - Mary Frances Yates, age 85, of Rose Auburn Ave., New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Liverpool, England, she was a daughter of the late Thomas P and Gladys Mary (Larty) Johnstone.
She was a former employee of I.B.M. and Northern Electric, Montreal. She served with the Canadian Army Women's Corp during the Second World War. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34, New Glasgow. She is survived by brother Lawrence Johnstone, Verdun, Quebec; niece: Gladys Elizabeth Johnstone (Marc Richard), Verdun, QC; nephews: Peter (Patricia) Johnstone, N.B.; Paul Johnstone, Lasal, QC; Neil Clark; Dale Clark, both of Pierrefonds, QC; many grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ronald, sister Ann (Tom) Clark.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 am Tuesday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
