Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, after a short illness, on May 11, 2009. Father Edward James Purcell, age 79 years. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Gertrude Purcell and sister Kay Anderson. Leaving to mourn brothers: Eric (Irene) and Tom (Helen), nieces and nephews: Ned, Cathy, Ann Marie, Debbie, Sandy, Tom and Karen. Resting at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mt. Carmel, St. Mary’s Bay on Wednesday, May 13 from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. and at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, St. John’s on Thursday, May 14 from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, St. John’s. Interment at Belvedere Cemetery, St. John’s. No flowers by request. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
