Gretchen Kitchen of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late David Kitchen passed away on June 5, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 25, 1926 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jean (Shepard) Hagerman. She was loved by all for her generous, happy spirit. We know Mom will be greatly missed by all her good friends at Brunswick Street Church and the Fredericton area, and her family certainly appreciated the special care she received while a member of the "family" at the Farraline Place. Eric and Janet's faithful visits to the hospital were also greatly appreciated by Robin, Jean and Mark. Gretchen is survived by her daughters, Jean Hardy (Peter), Robin Dickson (Andy); son, Mark Kitchen; also her much loved grandchildren, Lisa (David Francis), Holly (Richard Ivey), Caleb (Dawn) and Matthew. Gretchen also loved dearly her great-grandchildren, Alex, Fionn, Cormac, and Oscar; nieces, Janet and Gretchen and nephews, Eric and Alan were so important to her; as well as her "grand-dogs" Molly, Bogie, and Lily who all brought such happiness to her life. Besides her parents and husband, Gretchen was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Morehouse.
Although there will be no visitation by request, her funeral service will take pace at Brunswick Street Baptist Church, York Street on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor Greg Geldart officiating. A reception will follow. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Gretchen, the family has suggested the Canadian Cancer Society or the Fredericton Food Bank.
