On Tuesday May 12, 2009 at the age of 77, Edward passed away peacefully at home with all his family by his side. Edward leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 56 years, Norma; his children Jess (Deanna), Lawrence (Doreen), Marie Jinjoe, Goldie (Ken) Marcia, Barbara, Michael (Kim) and Teresa; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his brother Pat (Shirley); his sister Goldie Bender, his sister-in-law Mavis (Don) Galambos; his brother-in-law Mel (Gloria) Wall; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Lee, his parents Jess and Elizabeth Meredith, his sister Mary (Pius) Heidt, and his brother-in-law Walter Bender. Edward was born and raised in Moose Jaw. He met the love of his life as a child and reconnected with her as a young adult in 1951. Edward married Norma on April 25, 1953. Together they raised their family in Moose Jaw until 1968, then moved to Prince Albert to start a new job as a sheet metal worker. Edward started his own business in the early 70’s. He was an active member of the Cosmopolitan Club since 1977. When Edward semi-retired, he took up his favorite hobby of gardening, which he enjoyed for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, having afternoon coffee with the boys and spending lots of time with his family. A special thanks to the Palliative Care team, Dr. Surkan, Father Maurice, and Father Tremblay. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, 589 – 9th Street East, Prince Albert with celebrant Father Cliff Tremblay. In lieu of tributes, donations can be made in Edward’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9, Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 12013 Stn BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3, or Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
