It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother and grandmother Olga Marie (Watts) MacDonald, who died peacefully on June 8, 2010 at the Veteran's Wing of the Ridgewood Care Centre in South Bay. Olga was a long time resident of 33 Queen Street West, Saint John. Born in Tracadie, P.E.I., she was the second youngest daughter of Edward and Ethel Watts. She was a veteran of WW II serving with the Women's Army Corps She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and embraced and befriended all those who crossed her path. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit and her deep devotion to her family and friends. She loved to sing, dance, play cards, and watch the news. Olga and her late husband Al owned and operated Al's Diner for a number of years. She also enjoyed her work as a caregiver with the Red Cross and the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception. Olga is survived by her seven children; Brian (Corinne) MacDonald, Saint John, Ron (KeeLang) MacDonald, B.C., Ellen (Maynard) Robart, Quispamsis, Eddie (Joanne) MacDonald, Quispamsis, Elaine Herc, Rothesay, Jeff (Vicki) MacDonald, Quispamsis, Lynn MacDonald, Miramichi, sister Gertrude Roache, P.E.I., several nieces and nephews, and her good friend Donnie "Booter" Goss. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who were the love of her life. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred (Al) MacDonald, infant son Jeffrey and eldest son Patrick, four brothers; Alfred, Frank, Russell, Jimmy, and five sisters; Gerry, Ida, Mary, Elinor, and Pearl, as well as her long time friend John O'Neill. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701) with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The RCL will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday at 12 noon from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. A private family interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Following the Mass a reception will take place at the Assumption Centre. Donations to the Salvation Army, Hospice of Saint John, Carleton Community Centre, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by Olga's family.
