The death at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, of Leonard J. Bernard, Palmer Road, aged 55 years. Beloved companion of Stephana Bellefontaine. He was born March 16, 1954, the son of the late Bazile and Fidelis (Arsenault) Bernard. Dear brother to Leona (Donnie) Miller, Delia LeLievre, Barbara (Moe) Aucoin, Velda (Ted) Church, all of Nova Scotia, Delima (Gilles) Bernard, Pleasant View, Austin and Vincent of Palmer Road. He is also survived by a stepson, Derek (Tanya) Bellefontaine, Dartmouth, N.S., a granddaughter, Amanda, sister-in-law, Theresa Bernard, Pleasant View, brother-in-law, Peter Gaudet, Tignish, his favorite pet cat, Holly, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bazile and Fidelis, brothers Johnny, Melvin, Raymond, William and Henry and a sister, Mae. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road, for visitation Friday 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, at 4 p.m. Memorial donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince County Hospital or Fr. Ellsworth Scholarship Fund would be greatly appreciated.
