It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Anne (Kryluk) Worobel of Whitney Pier, on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family.
Born in Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Madeline (Lychiw) Karluk.
She was an honorary lifetime member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Whitney Pier, and the Ukrainian Catholic Woman’s Club, where she enjoyed their company, laughs and jokes while preparing food for many events held at the Ukrainian Hall.
Anne was a devoted mother who was able to stay in her home up until the time of her death, being cared for by her daughters, Stephanie and Madeline.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Anne and Bill were blessed with eight children, daughters, Olive, Mrs. Pat Randazzo, Coutrice, Ont., Mrs. Stephanie Dawe, Mrs. Madeline Postlewaite, both of Sydney, Anna, Mrs. John Dooley, Ottawa, Ont.; sons, Walter (‘Mitzi’), Sydney, Michael, New Hampshire, Alex (Ellen), Duxbury, Mass., Donald, Sydney; by 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and by a sister-in-law, a nephew and two nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband, William in 1988, granddaughter, Cathy Randazzo, brother, Michael, sons-in-law, Gussie and Wayne and daughter-in-law, Mary.
Visitation for Anne Worobel will take place Monday, May 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel where the Panahyda service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church with Rev. Roman Dusanowskyj officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
