93. Passed peacefully away May 11, 2009, in Chancellor Park Residence. Born in Frampton, Dorset, England, she arrived in Newfoundland August 1946. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert John, one brother, three sisters and grandson Christopher B. Loder. Veronica was the mother of Roberta (Ray) Dickie, William (Lynn), and Richard (Martha Anne). She is survived by grandchildren: Melynda Loder (Colin McNeil), Sean Smith (Kate Steele), Jessica Woodworth (Landon Holley), Sarah Woodworth (Mark Dylan), and Jeremy Woodworth; great-grandchildren: Quinn, Charlie, and Elliot McNeil; sisters-in-law: Laura Colyer and Dorothy Cahela; special friends and neighbours who gave unconditional friendship along with exceptional acts of kindness; and local war brides who shared common experiences and support to each other over sixty years.
Veronica was a very special and gracious person; a loving, respectful mother/ grandmother; great-grandmother; a thoughtful, caring friend and neighbor; a supportive member of her church; she actively volunteered and provided service to her community; and, her love of nature and especially her garden will continue to provide beauty and enjoyment for years to come.
Veronica had written many years ago, “Let me go quietly, as I have tried to live my life.” We wish you God’s speed, Mom.
The family would like to express its many thanks to the staff of Chancellor Park Residence for their heartfelt caring and dedication. Visitation will be held 12 - 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, in Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at Barrett’s Funeral Home with interment to follow
