It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of A. J. Dorothy Noiles, age 89. Dorothy, of Upper Nappan, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
Born in Upper Nappan, she was a daughter of the late Robert P. and Carrie (Finnigan) MacDonald.
Dorothy was a loving mother who always put her family first. She enjoyed feeding her birds, caring for her animals, and loved spending time outdoors tending her garden and flowers. Everyone knew that there was always room for one more at Dorothy's house. She cared about everyone and always enjoyed helping when she could. She was a member of the Nappan United Church.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters Mary Brodie, Hamilton, ON, Chris (Lloyd) Duguay, Edmonton, AB and Susan Noiles (Mike), Fort Lawrence, NS, and daughter by choice Cathy (Randy) Denby, Fort Lawrence; 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sister Carrie MacKay, Nappan, NS.
She was predeceased by her husband Earl, brother James, and son-in-law Larry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place prior to the memorial service on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 2 until 3 pm followed immediately by the memorial service at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the Fenwick Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a donation in Dorothy's memory may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre or the LA Animal Shelter.
