Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, June 19th, 2010, Gertrude Fleming of Bell Island, age 90 years. Predeceased by parents George and Isabelle George, brothers William and Clarence George, sisters Edith Miller, Lillian Rose, Mildred Newtown, Winnie Coombs, Evelyn Jones, Mariah Dwyer, and Carey George, husband Michael Fleming (1978), daughter Margaret Kumpera (2007), grandchildren Robert and Julie-Anne Fleming and great-grandchild Normie Fleming. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons George of New Brunswick, Walter (Heather) of Toronto, Ont., William (Geraldine) of Bell Island, NL, Tony (Brenda) of Bell Island, NL, and Aiden Fleming of Bell Island, NL; daughters Phyllis Riopel (Roger) of Vernon, BC, Isabelle Fleming (Glen) of C.B.S., NL, Mildred Conway (Derrick) of Bell Island, NL, and Joan Kent (Ronald) of Holyrood, NL; sister Dorothy Coombs (George) of Upper Island Cove, NL; as well as numerous grandchildren (especially Margaret Power (Edward) of Bell Island, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. A special thanks goes to Dr. Stefanelli and his team of doctors as well as the nurses and staff of 5SA Cardiology at HSC for the exceptional and compassionate care provided to Gertrude during her short illness. Resting at Pendergast's Funeral Home, Bell Island. Visitation will take place on Monday, June 21st from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Parish on Bell Island. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery located at the Front, Bell Island. Flowers and/or donations gratefully accepted.
