Lloyd William MacKinnon, 61, of Bay Road Valley, C.B., passed away May 15, 2009, at home.
Born in Black Point, Victoria County, May 14, 1948, Lloyd was the son of the late Simon and Cassie (MacLellan) MacKinnon.
Lloyd was a member of St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, St. Margaret’s Village. He began his career as a fisherman, and then spent many years working as a miner throughout Western Canada and the High Arctic, he eventually returned to Bay St. Lawrence to continue his love of fishing. Lloyd love to step dance while his son played the fiddle, he was generous and very friendly man who was always willing to help someone in need. Lloyd was an avid snowmobiler and he will be greatly missed by all his buddies who would stop at his garage to have a chat with him.
Lloyd is survived by loving wife, Gail (MacKinnon); son, Shawn, at home; daughter, Trina, (Oscar) Desmond, Sydney; brothers, Paul (Debbie), Hamilton, John Roy (Shoggie), Sugar Loaf; sisters, Betty, Sydney Mines, Helen (Andre) Burton, St. Margaret’s Village, Mary Jane, (Greg), Bay St. Lawrence, Jessie (Joe) Buchanan, Bay Road Valley, Tammy (Charlie) Lampley, North Carolina. Lloyd is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Lloyd was also predeceased by his brother, Hector, brothers-in-law, Wilson, Earl, nephew, Joey and by his parents-in-law, Jerome and Margaret MacKinnon of Sydney.
Cremation has taken place, the family of the Late Lloyd William MacKinnon will receive visitors in St. Margaret’s Parish Center today (Monday, May 18) from 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Lloyd William MacKinnon will be held Tuesday, May 19 at 3 p.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, St. Margaret’s Village, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Burial will be held in parish cemetery.
