Royal G. “Junior” Lewis, 73, of Debert, and formerly of Five Islands passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
Born in Five Islands, he was the eldest son of the late Royal and Gleneida (Davis) Lewis. He enjoyed country and western music and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Peniel United Church in Five Islands and was a choir member for many years.
He is survived by his wife Leora (MacBurnie) (Paul) Lewis; step-daughter Janelle Oakley (Craig), Calgary; step-sons Kenneth Paul (Brenda), Bowmanville, Ont.; Scott Paul (Kathy), Springhill; sisters Linda Henneberry, Lower Sackville; Trudy Eagles, Lower Five Islands; brothers, Morton (Noreen), Barry, Arnold, all of Five Islands; Sydney (Bev), Lower Sackville; Allan (Susan), Masstown; eight step-grandchildren; three great-step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Carolyn MacBurnie and Murdelle Lewis.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 in Peniel United Church, Five Islands, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in the Lower Five Islands Cemetery.
