It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden death of our beloved father, brother and uncle, George Louis (Beau) Strickland, 54, resident of King Street, Florence, on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at his home.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Louis and Theresa (Donovan) Strickland.
He is survived by his children, Chysa, Brianna, Beau Jr., Brenda and Nicole, all of Ontario; his brothers and sisters, Elizabeth (Joe) Broughton, Winnifred MacNeil, both of Guelph, Ont., Brian (Kathy) Strickland, Wayne (Michelle) Strickland, both of North Sydney, James (Patsy) Strickland, Helen Devoe (Dave), both of Scotch Lake, Cecil (Leighann) Strickland, Roger Strickland, Tommy (Katrina) Strickland and Neil Strickland, all of Ontario. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Anne Marie McIntyre, Theresa and Brenda Strickland.
Visitation for Beau will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday from Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Hughie MacNeil officiating. Cremation will follow and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines, at a later date.
