Mary Catherine MacDonald, 89, passed away peacefully at New Waterford Heights, New Waterford Hospital, on Friday, June 25, 2010.
Born in Reserve Mines, and a former resident of Neville Street, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Katie (Fennel) MacEachern. Mary was employed with the Sydney airport for 11 years and then with St. Joseph's Glebe House in Reserve Mines. She was known by all to be a hard working, devote Catholic with a great sense of humour.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann MacDonald, Reserve Mines; sister, Bridget 'Bibbie' LeBlanc, New Waterford; brother, John A., Framboise; grandchildren, Lee MacNeil, Glace Bay and Derrick MacNeil, Halifax; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandson.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Wilbert MacDonald; sisters, Mary Fraser, Nonie Deveaux; brothers, Roddie, Walter, Bobby, and Roy.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 27, from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass of celebration for Mary will take place Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, with Rev. Daniel Boudreau officiating.
