At Prince County Hospital on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, of Leona McCourt of 225 Linden Ave., Summerside, and formerly of Emerald, aged 87 years. Wife of the late Elmer McCourt. Born in Hope River, she was a daughter of the late Leaming Murphy and May (Carr) Murphy. Mother of Clifford (Joan), Miscouche, Edwin (Shirley), Summerside and Ray (Wendy), Summerside. Sister of Bernice (Vernon) McCarvill and Theresa (late Carl) Smith. Sister-in-law of Sister Gladys McCourt, Charlottetown, and daughter-in-law of Sandra McCourt, Summerside, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter Beryl and brothers and sisters: Patricia, Albert, Oswald, Cletus and Fr. Clifford. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora. Visiting hours Friday, May 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23, at St. James Parish, Summerfield, with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Donations in memory of Leona may be made to St. James Church Cemetery Fund or the Prince County Hospital Foundation.
