On July 5, 2010, Mr. Raul Borges passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital at the age of 84 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria Jose, his three daughters Maria (Joe) Vieira of Kamloops, Connie (Gilberto) Duarte of Edmonton, Alberta and Anita (Dave) Fayers of Kamloops; his five grandchildren Denise, Sarah, Rick, Nicole and Bryan and his brother Leonel Borges.

Raul was predeceased by his father Jose Borges, his mother Maria da Luz Pedro, his brothers Antonio and Ernesto Borges and sisters Maria dos Anjos Pedro and Maria Odilia Pedro.

Raul was born June 5, 1926 in Santo Antonio Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1959 and worked for CN Railway for four years. He moved to Louis Creek in 1964 to be close to his brother Leonel and worked at Fadear Creek Lumber. In 1965, his wife Maria Jose and their three daughters Maria, Connie and Anita joined him in Canada.

In 1968, the family moved to Kamloops and Raul went to work for Weyerhaeuser Canada from where he retired. Raul was a loving husband and father. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. Raul believed strongly in his Catholic faith. He was a kind and generous man, who loved spending time with family and friends. He always had a twinkle in his eyes especially when he was playing a joke on his grandchildren. He loved to garden, take long walks, play cards and travel.

We will miss him dearly and he will live forever in our hearts.

Prayers will be recited on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Reverend Father Fred Weisbeck will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in the cathedral on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Sage Valley Mausoleum.
