The death of Dr. Win Poole of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on July 9th, 2010. Born in St. Stephen, NB, July 16th, 1926, he was the only child of the late Victor B. Poole and Florence Osborne. Both a B.A. and S.T.D. were conferred on him by the Université of Montreal where he also acquired his doctorate in theology. He received his B.Ed. from St. Thomas and his M.A. from Fordham University in New York. Dr. Poole started as a professor of mathematics at St. Thomas University in 1954. He served as Acting Vice-President from 1975-1977 and held the position of Academic Vice-President until 1982 and was the Interim President in 1990. Dr. Poole was associated in many different professional and community organizations including the Mathematical Association of America, Canadian Institute of International Affairs, Canadian Professors for Peace in the Middle East and the Canadian Mental Health Association. Friends will remember him as a man of unshakable faith. He is survived by his cousins, Sister Mary Rosalie Smith of Conway, MI, Mary R. Osborne of Worchester, MA and Mrs. David F. Russell of Brockton, MA.
