The death of Joey Phillips of Hampton and formerly of Fredericton, widow of Maurice Phillips, occurred July 10, 2010 at her residence. She was born at Quispamsis, daughter of the late Albert and Verna (McPhee) Buckley. Joey was an active member of St. Mary's Church Auxiliary and in later years a member of Christ Church Cathedral, Fredericton. She was a seamstress and a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Phillips (Sam Mersereau), Hampton; three sons, Bob Phillips (Shirley), New Maryland, Ed Phillips (Laurel), Hampton, Rowland Phillips (Marnie Jacobsen), Rossland, BC; three sisters, Rita Duffley (Jim), Donna Harriott (Hugh), and Dianne Ellis (Ron), all of Quispamsis; one brother Rowland Buckley (Dorothy), Rothesay; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Monday, July 12, 2010, at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Hampton, at 10:00am with the Very Rev'd Keith R. Joyce officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to Dr. V.A. Snow Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
