Martell, Joan Gwendolyn – West New Annan (Tatamagouche), beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Joan Gwendolyn Martell, Age 70, of West New Annan, Colchester County, slipped away peacefully on May 20, 2009 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Pictou,, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (MacDonald) Crowe. Joan was raised in Pictou but moved to Halifax as a young woman, where she met her husband Vernon Martell. The couple moved to Tatamagouche in 1976 with their only child Paul Martell. Joan was co-owner of Tatamagouche Auto Parts for 18 years and retired in 2007. She is survived by her husband, Vernon; son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Sherry Martell, The Falls; grandchildren, Josephine Martell, age 10 and Sebastian Martell, age 8; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Libby Crowe, Toney River and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jacqueline Crowe in 1941. Visitation will be held Monday, May 25, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 3:00 p.m. in Coulter’s Funeral Home (657-3288) 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche, N.S., Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Interment will be in Sunny Brae Cemetery, River Road, Tatamagouche. Reception to follow at Tatamagouche Fire Department Hall.
