It is with great sadness that the family of Betty-Lou Bent announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 10, 2010. She was the loving wife William "Don" Bent for 48 years. Betty-Lou was born in London, Ont. on February 18, 1943 to Ross Willis MacLagan and Margaret (Ritchie) MacLagan. She is survived by her two brothers William (Rose) MacLagan and Rick (Julie) MacLagan and predeceased by her brother Donnie MacLagan, all of London, Ontario. Besides her husband she is survived by her three sons; Steven (Cathy), Michiel, and Ross (Rachel) Bent, daughter, TerryLynne Valera, grandchildren Ashley (Jonathan), Jordan, Jacob, Jessica, Alex and Kyle Bent, Joshua Dorie, Emily and Haley Valera, great grandson, Jack Dutra, as well as several nieces and nephews. Betty-Lou was a member of the Orange Lodge and Crystal Chapter in Lepreau and Saint John as well as a leader for The Girl Guides of Canada for many years. She spent a lot of time reading and enjoyed playing cards. She especially enjoyed every moment with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701). By family request there will be no visitation. The Orange Lodge will hold a Tribute Service at 1:00pm on Friday in Fallsview Chapel. The funeral service will be held in Fallsview Chapel on Friday at 3:00pm Interment will take place at a later date.
