On July 11, 2010, Helena (Lena) Adele, Dowling passed away peacefully at her home with family. Lena was 90-years-young and will be fondly remembered by the many families she touched while working at the pediatrics wards for the Provincial Sanitorium, the Charlottetown and Queen Elizabeth hospitals. Lena is proceeded by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Patrick Dowling of 59 years, six brothers and one sister. She will be truly missed by her five children, Judi O'Brian (Dennis), Brenda Jones (Pat), Carole Creamer (Don), Billie Dowling (Diane) and Michael Dowling (Carole). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Trevor, Shelly and Wade O'Brian; Ken and Kyler Jones, Krista Thompson; Kaitlin and William Creamer; Adam, James and Nicholas Dowling, as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Resting at the Hillsboro Funeral Home in Stratford (#2 Hollis Ave.) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, from 6 - 9 p.m. As a long-time and dedicated member of the CWL, a prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m., a funeral mass celebrating Lena's life will be held at the Most Holy Redeemer and an interment ceremony will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery on St. Peter's Road. The family would like to invite everyone back to the Jack Blanchard Hall for a reception. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Upper Room, CNIB or the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Please refrain from wearing any scents due to severe allergies.
