The passing of Teresa Askanas of Fredericton occurred at her residence on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. She was 62. Born in Poland, she is a daughter of Aniela (Gula) and the late Stanislaw Kowalczyk. Roman Catholic by faith, she was an active member of the Wostawea Cross Country Ski Club, and a professor at the University of Lodz in Poland until moving to Canada in the 1980's.
She is survived by her husband Wiktor Askanas, sons Aleksander and Hubert of Fredericton, mother Aniela and brother Andrzej Kowalczyk of Poland, sister in law Malgorzata and cousins Dominica and Philip both of Ottawa Ontario.
Resting at Bishops Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton where visitation will take place on Monday, July 19 from 11 AM to 1 PM and 2 to 4 PM, followed by the funeral service which will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1500 Hanwell Road at 5 PM with Father JJ Dolan Officiating. Interment will take place in Poland at a later date.
