The passing of Nita Odette Lewis, of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late James Lewis, occurred on Sunday, July 18th, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Born on January 19th, 1921, in London, England, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith (Barber) Baker. She was a member of the Church of England and a past member of the War Brides Association.
Nita is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Clyde) Gaskins, of Tenn, USA and Heather (Steven) Leslie of Kingsley, NB; son, Edward (Sheila) Lewis, of Fredericton, NB; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Derek "Bill" (Jesse) Baker, of Australia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Nita was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Wilkes; son, Howard Wilkes; and grandson, Andrew Lewis.
Although there will be no visitation by request, a funeral service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Chris Emery officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. Due to family allergies the family requests no flowers; remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Arthritis Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
