Surrounded by her loving family, Carmel Butler (Silvey) quietly left the world on July 18, 2010. Carmel was predeceased by her husband Edward (Ted); sons: Joseph and Terence; daughter Mary Conway and son-in-law Peter Conway. After a life full of meaning, Carmel leaves with lasting love and treasured memories, her children: Brian (Diane), Deborah (Edwin Churchill), Paul (Christine), Edward (Colleen), Kenneth (Lori) and Ronald; daughter-in-law Anne Butler; her beloved grandchildren: Blake Butler (Lyndsey), Kaitlin Butler, Eddie Churchill (Angie), Jeannette (Doug) Benson, Terri-Lynn (Chris) Tucker, Kim Butler (Glenn), Shawn Butler, Deanne Butler (Dave), Alicia (Tony) Fouchard, Debbie Butler (Wes), Stephanie Butler (Mike), Aaron Conway, Michael White and Shawn White; her great-grandchildren: Jordan, Zachary and Noah Benson and Brooke Tucker; sister Mary Ellen (Nell) Shea; sisters-in-law: Patricia (Dick) Normore, Mary Silvey and Lillian Walsh; brother-in-law Ned (Betty) Butler; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Her life was made richer by numerous special friendships and she will be fondly remembered. The family welcomes visitation at Pendergast's Funeral Home, Bell Island from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The funeral Mass in celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, July 22nd at 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Church, Bell Island followed by interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bell Island. Flowers are welcome as are donations to St. Michael's Parish, Bell Island.
