Simon Isaac Wilmot, 80, Millbrook, passed away early Saturday morning, May 23, 2009 at home with his loving family at his side. Born in Pictou Landing he was a son of the late Peter and Christina (Sappier) Wilmot.
Simon was a foreman for the Town of Truro sewer and water department for 33 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He enjoyed harness racing, playing cards, watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Simon had a good sense of humour, always happy and smiling and trying to make people laugh. Simon will be lovingly remembered by his family as a kind and gentle man.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He leaves behind his wife Georgina (Isadore); children Spencer (Valerie), Randy (Heather), Donna, Kelly (Janet), Connie, Kirby and Terry, all of Millbrook, Allister (Jane), Wagmatcook,; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; niece Katherine, nephew Peter and Godchild Manson.
Simon is predeceased by a son Robert; grandson Michael; sisters Annie and Kathleen; brothers Michael and Frank.
Visitation is taking place at his home, 11 Marshalls Lane, Millbrook. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 10 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church, Millbrook. With burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Millbrook. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
