Anna E. (Cantwell) Naddaf

Born In: Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: July 25th, 2010

It is with deep sorrow that we, the family of Anna Elizabeth Naddaf, announce her passing on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney. Anna has been a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home for a number of years.
Anna was born in Bras d'Or in 1922 and was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha (Boudrot) Cantwell.
After her marriage in 1942, she moved to North Sydney where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. For many years Anna was a stay-at-home mom where she had her hands full raising eight children. After the death of her husband, Anna entered the workforce for a few years but because of ill health she was forced to retire. For many years, she was the Avon Lady to many people living in the area. After she sold her home on Blowers Street in North Sydney, she moved into the apartments at the Northside Guest Home where she looked after herself until she entered the home to be cared for by the nurses and staff members. She felt at home there where she spent half of her life volunteering and assisting the patients.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Carole (Blair) Meating, Sydney Mines, Maureen Serroul, North Sydney, Paula Walsh (Ken White), Montreal, Linda (Vic) Mizzi, Sault St. Marie, Ont., Nancy, Toronto; her sons, Gerard, Adjula, Ontario, and Kevin (Hugh Wakeham), Toronto; also by her brother, Gordon Cantwell, North Sydney, the only surviving member of her immediate family and her sister-in-law, Mary Naddaf, North Sydney. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that will miss her greatly.
Besides her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, Abraham (Abe) Naddaf, who died in 1978, her son, Paul Naddaf in 1999, her brother, Raymond Cantwell, sisters, Clara, Muriel, Mary and Bertha, her son-in-law, Cyril Serroul.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. A funeral mass will be held at a later date with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Anna was an active volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul and Northside Food Bank. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to either of the two organizations.
Arrangements entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
