1946 - 2010 - William Frank Brydges, 64, of Pointe-du-Chene, and formerly of Fredericton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, July 26, 2010. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Helen (Cuthbertson) Brydges. Bill was a retired school teacher who taught at Oromocto High School, MacNaughton High School, as well as Riverview High School. He also spent several years with the Department of Education and was recognized nationally by Nortel for his innovation with the World Wide Web for setting up the Intranet for the schools within the Province in the late 80's and early 90's. Bill graduated from Moncton High School and earned his BA in 1969 and B.Ed in 1970 from the University of New Brunswick, where he was President of Brydges House. He was a man of many interests and was a licensed ham radio operator and a community volunteer in both Fredericton and Moncton. He was a loyal member of the Moncton YMCA Hi-Y and a long time attendant of the Diocese of Fredericton Choir School at RCS Netherwood of which he later became registrator. He co-founded the St. Paul's Christmas Choral Festival in Fredericton in the early 90's and in his retirement, he was a founding member of the Camden Artist Group. He also spent many happy summer days volunteering as a conductor for the Hillsborough Salem Railroad.
Bill will be sadly missed by his wife, Trudy (MacPherson) Brydges, with whom he was able to celebrate their 40 wedding anniversary at home with their daughter and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lindsay Brydges Walsh (Thomas) of Hazlet, New Jersey; grandchildren Gregory, Emily, Harrison; sister-in-law, Cindi Forsythe (Brian); brother-in-law, Kim MacPherson (Martha); also two nieces, two nephews, two godchildren and his many friends.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday, 2 to 4pm, 7 to 9pm. A Celebration of Life service for Bill at St. Martin's in the Woods Anglican Church, Shediac Cape on Friday, July 30, 2010, 1:30pm, with Archdeacon Richard McConnell officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. In Bill's memory, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, Haitian Relief (c/o the Anglican Parish of Shediac) or a memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
