There will be a "Celebration of Jay's life at Capital Winter Club, Rookwood Ave, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, July 29, 2010 between 2:00 to 4:00 pm. All friends, relatives and everybody are welcome. Jay was born in Fredericton, NB the son of George Hayward Allen and Doris Marie (Tims) Allen. While attending school he was a parcel boy and part-time clerk in his father's store. The Royal Stores York St, Fredericton, NB. Jay worked in the clothing and haberdashery business all his life - after finishing school he worked with his Dad and when his Dad died he took over the business. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Diana - his children, Micheel (Debra) Allen, Edward Allen, Wendy (Joe) Shelby, MaryeJo (Bill) Neales - step children Dara (Gordon) Sewell, Jennifer (D'Arcy) Hiebevt, eight grandchildren, four great grandchild, brother George W (Anna) Allen, sister Cavolyn Ann (Jack) Kethro and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jay was predeceased by his parents, step son Kevin and all his aunts and uncles.
A funeral Mass was held at Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Sherwood Park, Alberta on June 10, 2010. Jay was cremated. His ashes will be interred at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredericton, NB on July 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
