It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marion Thomson 'Mazie' Bert of Reserve Mines. Mazie passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret (McWhriter) McNeil.
Mazie was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines. She was employed in the cleaning industry for several years, and was co-owner of D and M Cleaning prior to her retirement. She loved to have her cup of tea, and enjoyed playing bingo. Mazie was the matriarch of her family and will be remembered as a mother to many. She truly loved her husband Harry, their four children Heather, Valerie, Sherry and Boo, but her grandchildren were her life.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Harry; daughters, Heather, Valerie (Reggie), Sherry (Philip); son, Boo (Dale); brothers, John, Mickey, Francie, Tommy, Billy, Jimmy, Coody, Darrell, Donnie; sisters, Tina, Donna, Mary Ruth, Toni; grandchildren, Crystal (Bassam), Jennifer (Shawn), Kenny (Tara), Philip, Kathleen, Justin, Connor, Keegan; great-granddaughter Colby; many nieces, nephews and close and dear friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, George, Duck, Robert, sisters, Peggy, Eva, Debbie and her inlaws, Fred and Hazel Bert.
Visitation for Mazie will be held Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery.
Nan was not one for goodbyes.
She insisted on see you later.
