The passing of ‘Stew’ Stewart Eric Rutledge occurred on May 21, 2009 at home in Edmonton.
Born March 1, 1945 in Thorburn, Stew lived for many years on the Alaska Highway, B.C. Hunting big game and fishing was his passion. Many tourists enjoyed Stew’s sense of humour and had their picture taken with ‘The Mountain Man of Summit Lake Lodge,’ as he was dubbed.
Always kind and helpful to others Stew will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Many.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph; and brother, Wayne; grandparents, Mary Frost, Welener and Pearl Stewart.
Surviving are his mother, Dorothy (Riverton); sister and brothers: Pearl (Fred) McInnis, Edmonton; Gary (Rihana), Toronto; Beatrice (Carl) Spears, Westville; Jennie (David) Misener, Pictou Landing; Sheila (Kenny) MacLeod, Riverton; Hardy ‘John’, Stellarton; aunts, Bea Godden, Halifax; Twila McMaster, Wentworth; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date.
