The death of Laurence (Larry) Raymond Calvin Jr. of Saint John, husband of Loraine Goldie, occurred on Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on September 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Laurence and Jean (Raymond) Calvin. Larry worked for SMT/Acadian Lines for 39 years as a driver and dispatcher. He enjoyed hunting at Belvedere Lake in his younger days, and enjoyed camping at Wally's Trailer Park for the last 15 years. He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his daughters, Madeline Cobham (Norman, Debbie Jo Calvin, Ruth MacDonald (Sandy), Cindy Nugent (Dave), and Elizabeth Calvin (Richard Golding); five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; step children Sandra Gilchrist (Mark), Susan Wilson (Brad), and Scott Goldie (Cheryl); seven step grandchildren; a brother, Ross Calvin (Leona); a sister, Sharon Hughes; two nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his daughter, Lesley Cooper; and a brother-in-law, Ian Hughes.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in the Barnesville Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
