It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Rita Mary Carter (LeBLanc) of Amherst on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital, Moncton, NB with her loving family by her side at the age of 67. Born in River Hebert, NS, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Irene
(LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Rita was a nurse's assistance at Highland View Regional Hospital for many years.
Rita's joy in life was her family, whom she dedicated her life to. Rita will always be remembered for her kindness and unselfish ways. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by her children, Sterling Carter of Amherst, Teralisa (Melbourne) Ripley of Brookdale, Byron (Charlene) Carter of Amherst, Bernard (Nelson) Carter of Fort Lawrence; grandchildren, Bradley Carter, Vanessa Cottenden, Cody Cottenden, Christina Lowe, Jennifer Ripley, and Samantha Miller; five great grandchildren; sisters, Bernice (Ernest) O'Brien of Salmon Arm, BC, Theresa (Doug) Carmichael of Peterborough, ON; brothers, Roy (Gloria) LeBlanc of Maccan, NS and Bernard LeBlanc of Toronto, ON; special friend Gordon Edgett of Amherst; many nieces, nephews as well as her extended family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Douglas S. Carter in 2000. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Father David MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
