Diane Julia (MacPhee) Chiasson, 62 of Sydney, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 19, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Delaney) MacPhee.
Diane was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. She thoroughly enjoyed fiddle music and going to square dances; painting her beautiful oil paintings; nature and her quiet time.
She is survived by her husband, Gerard Chiasson; daughter, Charmaine (Chiasson) Matheson; son-in-law, Mark Matheson; granddaughter, Brooke; brother, Fred (late Joan) MacPhee; sisters, Kay (late Alec Joe) Aucoin, Annie May McCormick, Dorothy (Tom) Corbett, Barbara MacLellan; mother-in-law, Laura (Muise) Chiasson; sister-in-law, Susan (John) MacNeil and by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by father-in-law, Patrick Chiasson; brother, Joe (Rita) MacPhee and sisters, Margaret (Ross) Rouleau and Theresa (late Hughie) Poirier.
There will be no visitation for Diane Chiasson. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church, Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
