Charlie Ernest "Ernie" Spencer - 72 of Nictaux, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Minto, NB, he was a son of the late William and Georgette (Vandenborre) Spencer. Ernie retired as a MWO from the Royal Canadian Air Force after 36 years following a career as a Armament Systems and Avionics Technician. He became a CIL Officer in Duncan, BC and finished his military career as the Commanding Officer for the Air Cadet Sqn. He was a member of Markland #99 Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Valley Shrine Club. Ernie was a very loving husband, strong father and proud grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing sports. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed tying flies, making rods for people and sharing the odd story. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Marjorie Kinsella; daughters, Terri (Harley) Doyle, Greenwood; Lori (JP) Grant, Edmonton, AB; Alisha (Dave) Duguay, Kemptville, ON; sons, William (Kelly), Halifax; Darrell (Debbie) Hillsborough, NB; Ernie (Angela), Victoria, BC; sisters, MaryLou Graves and Lorraine (Gary) Spencer, both of Minto, NB; brother, Frank (Jean), Greenwood and grandchildren, Stefanie, Tracey, Jordan, Breanne, Kristy, Emily, two great granddaughters and many loving family and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Morris and Richard. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, August 7, 2010, in St. Mark's Chapel, 14 Wing Greenwood, Father Michael McKeage officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia; Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
