May 14, 1931 - August 6, 2010. It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James on Friday, August 6 at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by parents, Festus and Mary Flaherty; sister, Mary O'Malley; and brother, Joseph Flaherty. Leaving to mourn with fond memories beloved wife Edna (nee Wiseman); daughters Pauline (John) and Tina; son, Michael; grandchildren Andrew, Katherine and Sarah; sisters, Margaret, Veronica (Marty), Ellen (Pat), Bridget, and Kathleen (Festus); brothers, Patrick (Marie), Michael (Mary), Daniel (Vera), and Christie; sister-in-law, Merida; brothers-in-law, Art, Vernon (Nettie), Fred (Leah), Eugene (Mary), Morley (Linda), and large circle of family and friends. James was born in Mannin, County Galway, Ireland, and lived in England and the United States before settling permanently in Canada in the late fifties, and eventually Newfoundland in 1964. Rested at Fewer's Funeral Home, Clarenville. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, August 9 from Our Lady of Fatima Church, Clarenville with interment at Shoal Harbour United Church Cemetery Palmer's Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
