It is with deep regret and sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Peggy MacLeod, on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, while visiting the Williston House.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of Mrs. Kay MacLeod, Sydney, and the late Capt. David H. MacLeod.
Formerly of South Bar, she attended South Bar school and graduated from Riverview Rural High School in 1968.
Peggy worked as a secretary at Mason’s Wholesale for many years. For the past number of years she had been the secretary of Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier.
She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in Trinity choir and with the Inspirational singers.
Besides her mother, Kay, she is survived by her brothers, David (Elsie), Coxheath, Claude (Lenora ‘Pidge’), Victoria Mines, John Robert, Sydney. She is also survived by her aunt, Sandy Callaghan; uncles, Claude Huntley and John T. MacLeod; nieces, Karen, Susan Claudette; nephew, David; special cousin and best friend, Joanne MacInnis; and cousins, Susan, Patti and Sandy.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Jack and Jessie MacLeod and Frank and Katie Huntley.
Peggy was an organ donor. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, May 29, at Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier, with Rev. Jackie MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow in church hall.
