WILLIAM FERRIS “BILL” TAYLOR of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully on May 27, 2009 two weeks before his 88th birthday. Bill was born in Moose Jaw in 1921. When he was a child, his family moved to Hodgeville, SK, but moved back to Moose Jaw a few years later, where he resided for the rest of his life. Bill was involved in the Boy Scout movement for many years. As a young man, he worked at Prairie Airways, W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Eaton’s, various hardware stores, and the Army & Navy Department Store. He became a Canada Post Letter Carrier in 1950, where he worked until his retirement in December 1979. Bill was always very community minded and sat on the Boards of various organizations and church camps. Music played a large part in his life. Bill played “fiddle” with several local music groups and one of his greatest contributions for the city was when he developed the “Concerts in the Park”, which continue to this day every Wednesday evening in Crescent Park during the summer months. Predeceased by his parents William and Maude Taylor, sister and brother-in-law Alice and Frank Lowe, Bill will be sadly missed by his wife Laura, his children: Bill Taylor (Val), Connie (Ken) Bradley, Fay (Garth) Neff, Barry (Joyce) Taylor and Wendy (Gary) Heistad; his grandchildren: Barbara Taman, Richard Taylor, Dean Taylor (Chelsea), Travis Neff, Shanin Neff, Greg Bradley, Mark Bradley and Matthew Taylor (Kim); as well as many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Saturday May 30, 2009 at 1:30 pm, with Dave Moore officiating. For those so wishing, memorial donations in Bill’s memory may be directed to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E. S6H 1H3. In living memory of Bill, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
