1944 - 2010

Ellen Marie Gilroy of Kamloops passed away on August 9, 2010 at 65 years of age.

She is survived by her loving husband Harold Gilroy, children Kathy Gilroy of Salmon Arm, Shane Gilroy of Surrey, James Coupland of Penticton, Kenneth Coupland of Kamloops and Cana Gilroy of Kamloops; grandchildren Nikki McKenzie and Krystal Coupland; brother Ed Pocock; aunt Marge; and nephews and nieces, Greg, Karen, Dorian, Garland and Cindy.

She was predeceased by her parents Elsie and Albert Pocock.

Ellen was born in Chilliwack in 1944. She spent her youth in and around B.C.'s Lower Mainland and after attending U.B.C., moved to the Interior of B.C. Ellen met her lifemate of 38 years, Harold Gilroy, in 1972. Amidst the challenges of family life and raising five children, Ellen found the time to become a C.M.A. and eventually built a well established business in Kamloops. In her spare time Ellen spent years devoted to building a family tree and even wrote a book based on her maiden name Pocock. Ellen enjoyed travel, visiting Australia, Europe, Fiji and most of Canada. As she grew closer to retirement, Ellen spent most of her time doing two things she enjoyed, camping and reading.

The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
