Passed peacefully away in Ottawa on August 11, 2010, Gladys Evelyn Pike, age 93, loving mother of Glenys and Albert, and devoted grandmother of Nancy Barbour. Gladys would have been 94 on August 20. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Mary Mercer of Bay Roberts, husband Harrison - 1995, sister Vera - 1992, twin sister Dorothy - 1996, brother Edward - 1997, and sister Anne - 2003. Leaving to mourn sister-in-law Alice (Edwin Dicks), cousins Dr. A. R. Mercer and Don Mercer, a number of nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends, including ladies of the George St. United Church Women's Group and a former neighbour Mrs. Maria da Silva and family. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. with visitation on Sat., August 14 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and then on Sunday, August 15 from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service will take place at George St. United Church on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. followed by the interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Hamilton Ave. A reception will be held at George St. United Church.
