It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Lillian Clark of Maple Hill Manor on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at the Manor.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of James Allan and Lillian (Finlayson) MacDonald.
A graduate of the New Waterford General Hospital School of Nursing in 1945, Lil spent her 40-year nursing career beginning at the New Waterford General and New Waterford Consolidated hospitals. She later transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital in Glace Bay from where she retired in 1985.
Surviving are her daughters, Paula (Bobby) Burke, New Waterford, Shauna (Kevin) Foran, Cole Harbour; sister, Sara Campbell, Halifax; grandchildren, Robert (Jessica) Burke, Steven Burke, both of Hammonds Plains, Emma and Julia Foran, both of Cole Harbour; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Rae Burke, Hammonds Plains. In addition to her immediate family, Lil is survived by her inlaws, Raymond MacDougall, Marion (MacDougall) Burke, Carol (MacDougall) Morrison, David MacDougall, Judy MacDougall, Jean (MacDougall) MacNeil, Audrey (MacDougall) MacNeil, Myrna (MacDougall) Gillis, Pat (MacDougall) MacDonald, Yvonne (MacDougall) Donahue, Sheldon Clark, Raymond Clark, Carmella Clark and Marguerite (Clark) Fedora. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Lil was predeceased by her first husband, Danny MacDougall (Oct. 26, 1956), second husband John Clark (Aug. 14, 2002), sister, Annie Mae (Bill) Cameron, brothers, Angus Augustine, Ronald, Walter 'Buddy', Murdoch, Donald Archibald, James Allan and one brother in infancy as well as brother-in-law, Joe Campbell.
As per Lils' wishes there will be no visitation. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m., in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
