Completed life's race, having won the battle with brain cancer, at the Health Sciences Complex, St. John's , Sunday, August 15, 2010. A proud baker, chef, a lover of life and a friend to many, he hopes his courageous battle with terminal brain cancer, assisted by his medical team at the HSC during the past 6 years, is an inspiration to all. Born at Baie Verte, NL, November 22, 1970 and after living in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia he found his true home at his beloved Charlottetown, PEI, where he spent 8 "great and happy years fulfilling a lifetime of dreams." Loving son of Audrey (Pye) and Vic, brother to Paul (Barbara), nephew to Janice (Bruce Thomasen), Kathleen Murphy, George Pye (Olivera) and Una Pye, special cousin to David French (Jill) and their children Lisa and Daniel, also a loving relative of other family members and a loving friend of many including his extended family at Holland College, the Trivia Club, the Spa and all his support team at Charlottetown, PEI, especially his very good friends Dr. Lewis Abbott (Lettie), Joyce McKinnon (Stu), chef Austin Clement and his furry best friend Kiki. Greg is thankful for the professional care and compassion received from Dr. Gerald Murray and his staff, the oncology team under Dr. Zulfiqar, Laing and McCarthy, the nursing staff on the 5 South and 4 South floors at the HSC and the medical team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, all who contributed so much in giving him 6 of the happiest years of his life. Rev'd Lee Michelin conducted the funeral service at Clarke's Beach United Church on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 followed by cremation.
Pallbearers were Paul French, David French, Cyril Griffiths, David Whalen, Mike Pye, Alex Dawe, Austin Clement, Eddie Russell. Funeral arrangements were by Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, for brain research at the Health Sciences Complex, St. John's or to the SPCA.
