SAUNDERS, (Banks) Margaret W. - 86, formerly of Brookfield, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 16, 2010, at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born October 19, 1923, in Stewiacke East, she was a daughter of the late T. Porter and Edith (Brenton) Banks. She is survived and lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Frances (Saunders) Sullivan, Braintree, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald; sisters, Edith "Kelly" King, Mildred "Kitty" VanTassell and Mary Lutwick. Following her marriage, Margaret lived in Saint John, New Brunswick, and after her husband's retirement, they lived in Florida and Zwicker Lake, Annapolis County. Following the death of her husband in 1983 she made Brookfield her home. She was a member of Knox United Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling, word puzzles, reading and travel. She will be remembered for her love of animals, especially cats, her sense of humour, her positive outlook and concern for others. The family wishes to thank the 2nd Floor nurses and staff at Arborstone for their loving care over the past year. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be held in Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Middleton, at a later date. If so desired, donations in Margaret's memory to the SPCA are welcomed.
