Rebecca Cooper

Born In: Fredericton, Canada
Born: January 1st, 1982

Passed in: Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
Passed on: August 18th, 2010

God saw Becky getting tired when a cure was not to be.
So he wrapped his arms around her and whispered "Come unto me".
In tears we saw her sinking and watched her fade away.
Our hearts were almost broken, we wanted her to stay.
But when we saw her sleeping, so peaceful, free from pain,
How could we wish her back with us to suffer again.
It breaks our heart to lose her, but she did not go alone,
For part of us went with her the day God took her home.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rebecca (Becky) Ann Cooper at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 following her struggle with Huntington's disease. Born in Fredericton January 1, 1982, she is the daughter of Debra (Colwell) Cooper-Roach and the late Ben Cooper and step-daughter of George Roach. Becky will be missed and remembered with love by her brother Josh; step-brothers Ralph, Kirk (Darla) and Mark (Julie); her little nephew Owen Roach who for the last 22 months brought a twinkle to her eye and a smile to her face; her grandparents Ronald and Marie Colwell; grandmother Gertrude Roach; great grandmother Nora Fox: aunts Doris Burleigh (Bruce), Donna Murray (Sean), "The Baldwin Sisters"- Gail Molyneaux (Paul), Cindy Dingwell (Scott) and Joanne MacEwen (David); uncles Rev. John Cooper, Bill Cooper (Elaine), Robert Cooper (Julia) and Tom Cooper (Sharon); her furry friends Tigger and Shamus as well as many other family members and friends. Besides her father Ben Cooper, she was predeceased by her grandparents William and Inez Cooper; grandfather George Roach and great grandfathers Ralph Colwell and Lloyd Fox. Although the disease slowly robbed Becky of her physical capabilities it did not take her sense of humour. Her faith gave her peace and strength and an appreciation of life, she commented frequently how blessed she was. Becky's contented spirit and courage despite the challenges she faced in the last few years has been an inspiration to us.
Visitation to take place Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton. A celebration of Becky's life will be held Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 3:00 PM from Smythe Street Cathedral, Smythe Street, Fredericton with Pastor Wayne Flowers and Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Pallbearers will be Jon MacCullum, Blake Molyneaux, Mike McKnight, Bill Mc Laughlin, Ron Finnie and Jim McGuire. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Huntington's Society, Palliative Care Unit, D.E.C.H. or the NB Extra Mural Program would be greatly appreciated by the family. We would like to express our deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Bruce, Dr. Grant, Dr. Stewart and Nurses of the Palliative Care Unit, staff of the Extra Mural Program as well as Becky's wonderful caregivers for the compassion and care you gave Becky. Online condolences and the sharing of memories may be expressed through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com.
