The death of Ethel (Smith) Sparks of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Alonzo Sparks, occurred on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Croydon Surrey, England she was a daughter of the late William and Ellen (King) Smith. Ethel was very proud that she was a war bride. She is survived by five daughters: Ann (Russell) Wilson of Joggins, NS, Vicki (Fred) Drew, Patricia Sparks both of Ontario, Susan (Neil) Brown of Calgary, and Pamela (Guy) Newcomb of Saint John; two sons: William (Jeanie) Sparks of Saint John, and Michael (Debbie) Sparks of Kingston, NB; two chosen daughters: Maggie and Christine; two sisters: Hazel Condon of England, Nellie Kite of Birmingham, England; one brother, Arthur Smith of England; twenty- two grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by three sons: Terry, Albert and Daniel; one grandchild, Stanley; one sister, Betty Baird.
Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (634-7425) with visiting on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
