It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, Marie MacGillivary age 66 on May 27, 2009 at her residence.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of Samuel Billard and the late Angela (Currie) Billard, formerly of Benzanson’s Lane.
Marie was a member of Holy Cross Church. Mom could often be found watching her favorite cooking shows. She had a fond love of music, arts and crafts and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. In her youth, she enjoyed skating, dancing and boating.
Marie and her husband, John shared 41 beautiful years and raised their three loving children, Karen (Arthur), John (Denise), and Janice (Jason). Also surviving is her father, Samuel Billard; her pride and joy grandchildren, Michael, Samantha and Tyler; sister, Marian Walke (Bud) and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Besides her husband and mother, Marie was predeceased by a sister, Dolores and brother, Bobby (Betty).
Visitation for Marie MacGillivary will be held Sunday, May 31, 2009, 7-9 p.m. and Monday, June 1, 2009, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Tues., June 2, 2009 at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
