OSHAWA, Ontario - Charles (Greg) Spears, 51, passed away suddenly at home surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
Born in New Glasgow, he grew up in Mt. William. Greg was the son of the late Frank and Nora (Dwyer) Spears.
He later moved to Whitby, Ontario where he worked at the Whitby Hospital until the time of his death.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, June (Roffey) Spears; and by his son, Charles (Chuckie) Walsh; daughter, Kala Walsh; step-sons, Shawn and Jeff; grandchildren: Rylie, Kegan, Jacob and Brooklyn; brothers, Doug (Marie) Dwyer, Carl (Bea) Spears; sister, Charmaine (Donnie) Snell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Greg was predeceased by his parents, twin sons, Brian Evan and James Carl Walsh; brothers, Jimmy Spears and in infancy Norman.
Cremation has taken place and a public graveside committal service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery on Wednesday, August 25, at 11 a.m. with Father Bill Rankin officiating.
Donations may be made to the Pictou County SPCA or a charity of your choice.
No flowers at the request of the family.
There will be a celebration of Greg's life on Saturday, August 28, downstairs at the New Glasgow Legion from 7 p.m.-12 p.m.
